1Sky invites everyone to Focus the Nation on Jan. 31st!
On January 31 st, FOCUS THE NATION is orchestrating the largest National Teach-In the U.S. has ever seen – focusing entirely on global warming solutions! Already over 1200 colleges, universities, high schools, faith groups and civic organizations are participating. Imagine the power of tens of thousands of people across the country sitting down and seriously thinking about the crisis we must act on, and committing to solutions. By capturing and channeling citizens’ voices on this issue, our movement will continue to grow. For more information on the event, check out their website at www.focusthenation.org.
Focus the Nation encourages everyone to get involved. Plan an event, attend an event, invite your local, state, and national politicians. Here are several simple ways to get active today:
1. THE NATIONAL TEACH-IN. Get your school, your kid’s school, or a friend’s school signed up. Colleges and K-12 - everyone needs to be onboard! Join thousands of students on campuses across the country in brainstorming global warming solutions.
2. THE 2% SOLUTION: Faith and civic organizations are hosting screenings of this national webcast featuring Stanford climate scientist Stephen Schneider, sustainability expert Hunter Lovins, and green jobs pioneer Van Jones. Show the 2% Solution at a house party or attend a local screening!
3. CHOOSE YOUR FUTURE: Vote online for the top five solutions to global warming - from a coal moratorium, to a green jobs program, to emissions reduction, to initiatives to strengthen forests for carbon storage. As of yet, the 1Sky solutions aren’t featured in any one platform listed, which is why you should join the conversation and urge people to call for them. Join the discussion about how to achieve what science and justice demand.
