I was happy to find Barack's Moline, IL. office still opened sinced he had resigned as Illinois Senator on Sunday Nov.16.
Me and my son delivered our card to a very warm staff worker (who doesn't know what her future holds for her).
We here in Illinois lost a great Senator, but I hope he can spread his talent around a bit, I have always been pleased with Obama as my Senator. Obama responded to his constituents every time you email or called him. I am so hopefull he can stick to the plan.
CHANGE D.C., remember he needs us to stay involved and keep the pressure on the other members of our government and him!!

Climate Leadership Now day of action roundup thread (UPDATED)
This is the first post by 1Sky Organizer Melisa Stodieck. -- Luis
UPDATE: Here's our brand-new video about the November 18 day of action:
From California to Florida, success stories and pictures are pouring into 1Sky headquarters, highlighting the collective power of the Climate Leadership Now day of action. We are thrilled about the thousands of people across the country who met with their newly-elected Members of Congress and their staffs to welcome them to the new Congress and call for leadership on bold climate policy immediately.
Meanwhile, hundreds gathered on Capitol Hill to hear empowering speeches from Bill McKibben, Rep. Chris Van Hollen, our own Gillian Caldwell and many others leading the climate movement. Along with thousands of activists across the country, their message was not only directed at the new Congress to make climate a top priority or President-elect Obama to attend the UN Climate Conference in Poland next month, but to all of us to rise up to the challenge and be the change we seek. The new administration and Congress can't do it alone, so we have to keep up the drumbeat on climate.
Did you take part in yesterday's visits? If so, we'd like to share your stories, anecdotes and photos on our blog and website to tell the story of this successful day and ensure it has a lasting impact. Please share your stories, anecdotes and photos by sending them to congress@1sky.org. Or, simply leave your anecdote on this thread as a comment. Here are some pics and stories we've already received:
I visited the Woodland CA office of Mike Thompson (CA-01) this morning and delivered the card. Brain Bottari and Ellie Fairclough were there. Brian accepted the card and said the congressman also agreed that we need to act fast on climate change. We had a discussion in general about climate change. I have e-mailed with them previously about the renewal of the tax credits for solar. Attached is a picture - of the card next to Mike Thompson's picture in his office. As I left I said I would be back about climate change and Brian Bottari said he hoped that would not be needed. I took it to mean he hoped action would be taken soon.

Hi there!
I took a "Welcome (Back) to Congress" card in to Susan Collins at her office in Augusta Maine. I had a lengthy conversation with her staffer (Michelle P. Michaud) who remembered me from our visit last spring (the photo i had left her for Ms. Collins of my family with our new addition, my little grandson jogged her memory!) I hope to continue to visit--it is great to have some kind of "product" to hand over as a way to cement the message of the visit. Thanks for all the great organizing for this welcome back day! First impressions really count!
Best,
Karen Woodcock

I look forward to an overview of wiser climate, energy, land-use and transport policies in the State of the Union address by Obama in late January.

Someone should have photoshopped that photo with Obama a bit better. It's a cardboard cutout. I can't believe that photo was included.

CHANGING THE WAY WE CREATE ENERGY WILL CREATE JOBS AND IMPROVE THE ENVIRONMENT. THE GOVERNMENT CAN BE A CATALIST FOR THIS CHANGE. BY OFFERING GRANTS AND/OR TAX INCENTIVES TO THE PRIVATE AND BUSINESS SECTOR AS WELL AS USING THE INPUT FROM UNIVERSITY AND HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS TO BAND TOGETHER TO DEVELOP A VARIETY OF NEW ENERGY ALTERNATIVES. THE BRAIN POWER IS THERE LET'S USE IT. 3RD WORLD COUNTRIES WILL ALSO BENEFIT AS THESE TECHNOLOGIES OUR PUT TO WORK. RECYLED AND RECOVERABLE ENERGY IS ALSO A POSSIBLITY. WE CAN IMPROVE HUMAN LIVING CONDITIONS AND END WARS.
