Great news from the Land of Enchantment!

A green jobs bill passed the New Mexico state legislature last Tuesday and now heads to Governor Richardson’s desk for signing. Senate Bill 318 is designed to help small environmentally friendly businesses by giving them incentives through the Job Training Investment Fund (JTIP). The Green Jobs bill is designed to build the infrastructure necessary to meet federal requirements for the 2009 stimulus package. By passing this bill, members of the New Mexico legislature have taken an important step to help bring federal dollars to the state and develop a sustainable workforce.

A coalition of activists including 1Sky, New Mexico Youth Organized, Green For All, Conservation Voters NM, New Energy Economy, the Coalition for Clean Affordable Energy, and Natural Resources Defense Council have been working to bring clean, sustainable energy to New Mexico.
