Politicians receive all kinds of awards from various groups, but U.S. Sen. Scott Brown received an odd and unwelcome award this week. An environmental group known as 1Sky presented Brown with the "Oily Bird" award, a reference to pelicans covered with muck from the oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico.

The sarcastic award was given for his vote in favor of an amendment that attempted to take away the Environmental Protection Agency's authority to regulate greenhouse gases as part of the Clean Air Act.

The group claimed that if the failed amendment had passed it would have slowed efforts to move away from oil dependency toward cleaner energy sources.
