Some New Mexico teens say they realize the economy and environment don't take a summer vacation, which is why they're hard at work hosting an event in Albuquerque today to show Congress support for building a clean energy economy.

15-year-old Akilah Sanders-Reed is a 1Sky regional coordinator organizing the event. She says big problems like climate change and the oil spill are sparking clean energy interest among New Mexico's "next generation."

"We're going to have a lot bigger problems and we don't want to inherit them. We want to take care of this, and to clean it up, and to really do what we know is right."
