ACES bill champions talk to the activists
1Sky and our close allies Energy Action, Green for All, and USCAN (U.S. Climate Action Network) just finished a one hour conference call with Chairmen Henry Waxman and Edward Markey and their staff.
The Members of Congress fielded detailed questions from climate advocates: More than 225 questions were emailed to 1Sky by concerned Americans who want a clean energy future.
All 800 phone lines on the conference call were filled with people who wanted to hear about the nitty gritty details of the bill.
The champions of the House bill got a chance to explain some of the provisions in detail, and the advocates got a chance to air their concerns.
Chairman Markey added his political insight to the detailed discussion the bill, he said, “These opportunities come every 15 years or so. We can’t assume we’ll be in the same position in a few years – we did that in 1977-78, 1993-94. We need people to organize! This is the most important energy vote in a generation if not of all time.” Join 1Sky’s campaign to strengthen the bill now.
We’ll write in more detail about the call tomorrow. Stay tuned.
