1Sky today announced that more than 18,000 faxes have poured into U.S. Senate offices from 1Sky members over the last two weeks in support of comprehensive action on energy legislation this year.

“Despite the best efforts of the forces of the failed status quo – big oil, dirty coal, and their allies in Congress who dogmatically say ‘no’ to anything that smacks of progress towards a clean energy future – Americans know that we need a clean energy jobs bill now,” said 1Sky Campaign Director Gillian Caldwell.

1Sky members in all 50 states sent the faxes to ask Senators to vote for a comprehensive bill that would do the following:

  • Maximize clean energy jobs for America
  • Take serious steps towards cutting global warming air pollution as soon as possible
  • Transition our country away from the dirty coal and big oil fuels of the past and towards the clean energy of the future.

“At this defining moment – when we have a true opportunity to create millions of domestic green jobs AND take a major step towards fixing our deteriorating atmosphere – 1Sky members know that the status quo and inaction is not an option,” Caldwell said.  “We say yes to a new direction for our county and we will continue to deliver that message until the Senate has produced a comprehensive energy bill that moves America away from its dangerous reliance on Dirty coal and foreign oil.”
