1Sky to join Parents for Climate Protection alongside countless community organizations and everyday citizens to fight for our future at Climate Awareness Day this Sunday, January 23, 2011 in Park Slope

WHAT: Climate Awareness Day is an annual outreach event designed to answer the question 'What can we do about climate change?' and provide a forum to act on it. It will be an afternoon of action, activism, and outreach featuring a presentation by 1Sky campaign director Liz Butler. Butler will be launching 1Sky's new "kids for climate" video, a preview of which can be seen here. The featured action will be a large-scale letter writing campaign to elected officials demanding their continued support of the Clean Air Act.

WHO: Organized by Parents For Climate Protection in partnership with Congregation Beth Elohim and co-sponsored by the New York League of Conservation Voters, NYPIRG, Transportation Alternatives, Park Slope Parents, and the Brooklyn Food Coalition, featuring 1Sky Campaign Director Liz Butler, who was recently presented with the “40 under 40” award by the New Leaders Council for her impressive work on climate issues.

Liz Butler is the campaign director of 1Sky, the largest collaborative climate and energy campaign in the United States. Ms. Butler has more than 17 years of experience of organizing for environmental issues. She was a co-founder of ForestEthics, and was directly responsible for the protection of over 50 million acres of forests in the U.S., Canada, and Chile. In 2010, Liz was presented with a “40 under 40” award by the New Leaders Council for her work.
