I see the climate challenge as an opportunity to rebuild our society in a way that is more just and healthier for all of us. I see it less as an environmental issue and more as an issue of creating jobs, becoming energy independent and serving as a model of true prosperity and sustainability for other countries to follow. Sure things are getting fishy- this spring we got 70-90 degree weather for nearly three weeks in April, when the average temp is around 50; winters are becoming less wintry, and there seem to be more and more extreme weather events these days. But more than all these catastrophes, I see climate change as a stimulus for economic, political and social change that, if we can pull it off, will make the US and the world better for all of us.
