We hiked up beautiful Black Mountain for Mother's Day. We brought along our art project and worked on it at the top...

Some of the kids who came on the hike are all up on "350" already, from school (see 350.org), and some of them are instead just beginning to wonder what all this talk about "the climb it!" is all about.

When we talk about climate change and energy with kids, we talk about how taking care of the climate means taking care of each other: sharing, being fair, helping to clean up a mess, but above all taking responsibility for messes we make ourselves, especially those we kind of make on purpose...

While there is plenty of stuff about climate change that we think is rated PG or beyond, it's never too early for children to take part in communicating their views on fairness to decision makers. They expect decision makers to listen. Finally more and more of them are. But it's up to us grown ups to figure out which of those who appear to be listening or appear to be acting, really are.
