My granddaughter was born in October of 2007.
If we do not act quickly and correctly in the next 10 years, she will face cataclismic environmental and economic changes in her lifetime. Everyone of us making climate policy should have a picture of their grandchild, or someone's grandchild in front of them at all times.
I am on the Environmental Quality Advisory Board in my hometown and we recently had a presentation that included the projections for our country for the next 100 years. Our area of Tennessee known for its majestic forests is on the path to becoming a savannah. My granddaughter will be witness to most of that change. Our water resources will be drastically curtailed. We must be prepared for what we cannot change and work to change what we can. This generation is not entitled to life in a way that denies the future of our children and grandchildren.
